Short version: we collect as little as we can, only the email addresses you choose to give us, and we never sell, rent, or trade them to anyone.
Goodlede is built to be a calm, low-data place. We do not run advertising networks, we do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not build profiles of you or track your activity across the web. The only personal information we hold is an email address, and only when you have given it to us yourself.
We collect an email address in three situations, all of which are up to you:
We do not ask for your name, and we do not require any other personal details to use the Service.
To keep you signed in during the beta, the site saves your email in your browser's local storage. That stays on your device, under your control; clearing your browser storage removes it.
We use your email address only to: confirm and provide your access to the Service; send you the updates you asked for, if you subscribed; and respond to messages you send us. We use the contents of your contact messages only to reply to you and to operate and improve the Service. We do not use your information for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to running Goodlede.
We do not sell, rent, lease, trade, or otherwise share your email address or any personal information with third parties for their own marketing or for any other purpose. Your address stays with Goodlede.
We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the site, such as a website host and a database provider that stores the information described above on our behalf. These providers process the information only to provide their services to us and are expected to keep it confidential and secure. They are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
You can ask us to delete your email address and any message you have sent at any time, and you can stop receiving updates at any time. Email [email protected] and we will remove your information promptly.
Every story links to a third-party source. Those websites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. When you follow a link, that site's policy governs what it collects.
Goodlede is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we keep our footprint small precisely to keep the risk small.
If we change this policy, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated version here. Material changes that affect how we handle your information will be made clear.
